The Red Devils took to social media to acknowledge Eriksen's 32nd birthday on February 14 with a caption that drew plenty of attention in the comments section of the post. Many users were left baffled by the 'more life' reference, with the Dane having collapsed on the pitch after suffering a cardiac arrest during his country's Euro 2020 group-stage fixture against Finland.

The bemusement of supporters clearly stems from the cardiac arrest that Eriksen suffered while playing for Denmark back in June 2021. As a result of the traumatic incident, the former Inter midfielder had to be fitted with an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator, that meant he wasn't allowed to continue playing in Serie A. Despite concerns about whether the 32-year-old would be able to resume his career, Eriksen joined Brentford in January 2022 and, after making 11 first-team appearances for Thomas Frank's side, he would eventually make the move to Old Trafford in the summer of that year.

Breaking into Ten Hag's starting XI will undoubtedly be the aim for Eriksen between now and the end of the season. The former Tottenham midfielder has made just 15 Premier League appearances in the 2023-24 campaign and has been consigned to a bench role, with Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro being the United manager's preferred duo in the central midfield area. Indeed, the Dane will likely have to consider his future in the summer, although he is under contract at Old Trafford until at least 2025.
