The former Manchester City, West Ham, Aston Villa and Liverpool keeper is currently away with England on World Cup preparation duty but has been offered a new deal by the south coast club.
Administrator Andrew Andronikou told The News:"Two weeks ago we met with his agent, Colin Gordon, and said we wanted David to stay.
"There are financial considerations, but we have informally made an offer to him and hopefully we'll move it on in the next few days."
