Waddingham plays businesswoman and AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Welton in the hit Apple TV production. It appeared as though her popular character had been seen for the last time when series three came to a close and Lasso returned to his native United States following an eventful spell coaching in England.

It has now been claimed that Warner Bros has picked up contract options on three of Ted Lasso’s biggest names – with Waddingham, Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent) and Jeremy Swift (Leslie Higgins) on board. That has got fans excited for another instalment of rip-roaring action at Nelson Road Stadium.
WHAT WADDINGHAM SAID
Asked by whether she is ready to bring Welton back, Waddingham said: “I would always play her, even if she had a walking frame, so I’m the wrong person to ask. I’m in, I’m there, they are some of the greatest loves of my life, that cast. And the writers are so magnificent, you’d be stupid not to, you know? So, yeah, I’m totally there. Are we going to be there? I don’t know.”
She added when asked if there is a script in place: “Of course there’s no script!”
Apple TVDID YOU KNOW?
Any return for Ted Lasso would depend on leading man and show writer Sudeikis getting on board, with co-creator Bill Lawrence having recently told : “Whatever Jason feels like doing and whatever his decision is, we’re all down with it. Not only is he the star, he’s the head writer, and he’s also the dude whose life just has to be completely overhauled and moved to a foreign country with young children. It’s a big deal. So, as a fan, if someone’s like, ‘Oh, it’s gonna happen again,’ I’ll go nuts. As a partner, I’m down for whatever he wants to do.”
