Since Flick’s appointment, Barcelona have seen a noticeable shift in their approach. The former Bayern Munich coach has infused his tactical style into the team, emphasizing a direct, high-press game that has earned plaudits for its effectiveness. In their recent 4-1 thrashing of Bayern Munich in the Champions League, Barcelona demonstrated a balance of aggression and precision that stamped Flick's authority on the match.

Ancelotti acknowledged the tactical changes brought about by Flick and told reporters: "The philosophy has changed a bit, it's a team that plays differently, much more directly. I don't want to compare the work with Xavi, because for me Xavi did a fantastic job with Barcelona in his own way, with his ideas. Many times we struggled and lost against Xavi's Barcelona. This is a slightly different Barcelona, which we respect just as much as Xavi's."
With Barcelona seemingly in top form, Ancelotti faces the challenge of preparing Real Madrid to counter this revamped Barcelona team. Although Ancelotti admitted that he has adjustments in mind, he refrained from delving into specifics.
"I have something in mind, but it is not correct to explain it today,” he remarked.
"They may have a high line and then you have a way of attacking. They may lower the line, but you have to be able to manage the attack well also with a lower line. These are matches in which you have to be complete to win and we will try to do that."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Real Madrid have not been immune to criticism this season, particularly regarding their tendency to start games slowly. Although they have been successful in La Liga and the Champions League, commentators have questioned their motivation and readiness, especially after conquering Spain and Europe last season. Even in their recent comeback against Borussia Dortmund, Madrid were forced to rally from two goals down, eventually triumphing 5-2 after a sluggish start.
However, Ancelotti does not feel the need for a pep talk and said: "Usually in this style of match you don't have to talk as much beforehand… The idea is to define a very clear, very simple strategy… and nothing else. It's not a type of match where you have to give big speeches. Playing like we did in the second half against Dortmund for 90 minutes is impossible, but that should be our starting point, what we will try to achieve. I think we did a lot of things right. "We will prepare the game to do the right things with and without the ball. We have to play a complete game to win and we will try to do that."
