da poker:
da dobrowin: 5000/1 title winners, massive clubs relegated and the Premier League’s most successful side struggling to keep their fans awake, 2015/16 has been a season like no other. Tottenham collapsing in the most embarrassing fashion on the last day will be a highlight for so many fans and Arsenal somehow managed to achieve in their highest league finish since 1892.2015/16 has provided us with upsets, end-to-end thrillers, tiresome talk about philosophy and some truly remarkable stories. From Jamie Vardy’s journey to Premier League Champion, to Jose Mourinho’s dramatic demise, its been a unpredictable campaign and even the final day has left us with an absolutely astonishing set of results. Spurs have choked against a dire Newcastle team, Arsenal have seen Olivier Giroud score a rare hat-trick and Chelsea have wrestled with Champions Leicester at Stamford Bridge – just what is going on?Aston Villa and Newcastle, two Premier League stalwarts with shady owners, have succumbed to relegation after years of treading water. Two massive clubs, with fan bases that other directors would only dream of, have been run in to a position where even a last minute drive from Rafa Benitez could save them. Its as sad as it was inevitable. Some players of real quality have left the Premier League this season, three clubs have gone down who may well come straight back up, too.A final day thrashing of Villa brought joy to Arsenal fans. A second placed finish left them ecstatic, the #WengerOut brigade have calmed, they have relaxed into their comfy seats and it might just be a pleasant summer. Waving goodbye to Flamini, Arteta and Rosicky, the fans were treated on a sunny North London day and Mikel Arteta was allowed to ride off into the sunset of coaching with one final goal, as the midfield guard changes once again under Wenger. The final day had no Aguero moment, no relegation deciding fixtures, but we did see a true battle for the European places. Where West Ham and Manchester United were once in pole position, Southampton made a late, Saido Mane-esque surge into the race and the Hammers may be left without European football. Newcastle, being the enigma that they are, followed up their 0-0 against Aston Villa by absolutely annihilating a strong Spurs team, whilst players said goodbye, managers begun to part company and the beginning of a long summer of contract negotiations and transfer rumour-baiting begun. The final day had no Andrea Bocelli, it had no Jamie Vardy party, but the manic finish to this season did a truly head-spinning campaign justice. We had goals, we had collapses – we had it all.2015/16 has been a cracker, what could 16/17 possibly do to shock us yet further? Don’t even ask, don’t dream, just enjoy this campaign. Many fans will want to forget this because of their own club’s downfalls this season, but just remember it is football that we enjoy and this season must be savoured. We won’t have a more absurd campaign than this, ever. Football hasn’t always been of the highest quality, it hasn’t always been in good-temper, but this is one of the seasons that people will look back on as the most astonishing.Thank you Leicester City. Thank you Claudio Ranieri.Commiserations to the three relegated clubs and welcome to Burnley and Boro, welcome to the Premier League mad house.
